I worked with Richard for many years in my time with the Oakland Tribune. Ii took over his District in Berkeley 918 when he left to pursue other interests He was always fun to be around as we both saw humor in the many things we experienced or witnessed.I will always have great memories for Wags.

Besides working together with Rich at the Oakland Tribune, we were both Sargents in the California Air National Guard in Hayward. Rich was always the one to walk into the room with something funny to say. I remember him walking into the Hayward Zone office singing his song, "I'm In The Nude For Love". One of the last times I saw Rich was at me dad's funeral years ago back in 1997. Rich was a great guy who will be missed dearly by all of us who knew him.

A funny story about Rich. Years ago, at a Go-Getters luncheon I told Rich there was a great district open for bid at the Tribune and if he wanted to bid on it, he would get it. Rich said to me "what are you talking about, I left The Tribune 20 years ago". I told him of course I knew that, but the personnel department had forgotten to remove his name from The Teamsters Seniority List, and he had now reached the top of the list. We had a good laugh, and I later had his name removed from the list. Rich was a great guy, and he will be missed.
