A
memorial service will be held Tuesday for Roy Henry Williams, a
longtime photographer with the Oakland Tribune who was a member of the
team awarded the Pulitzer Prize for coverage of the 1989 Loma Prieta
earthquake.
Mr. Williams died Thursday April 7, 2005 of a heart attack at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Hayward. He was 73.
A
San Leandro native, Mr. Williams graduated San Leandro High School and,
at age 19, became the youngest photographer ever hired by the Oakland Tribune, according to the newspaper.
