Rita
Mary Lamm of San Lorenzo, was born in Chicago, Illinois, on March 14,
1926. She passed away peacefully after a short illness surrounded by
family at her home on February 21, 2012. Rita worked at Mare Island
during World War II. When the war ended in 1945 she came to the Oakland
Tribune working at the circulation counter in the main lobby. There, she
met her future husband John. Together they raised five children.
Rita
and her husband traveled extensively visiting 50 countries around the
world. Their 50th and 60th wedding anniversaries were celebrated by
taking the whole family on a cruise. Together they owned Friedman’s
Microwave franchise in Dublin. Proceeded in death by her two sons, John
and Joseph. Survived by John, her Husband of 63 years, Daughters and
sons-in-law, Paulette and Doug Sandy, Catherine and Dennis Brown,
Theresa and Charles Dyer. Ten grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren.
