A
resident of Danville Michael R. Merriman passed away surrounded by
family and close friends. He was 72 years old. Michael was born in
Menomonie, WI to Rex D. Merriman and Annabelle E. McClelland (Merriman).
He is survived by his mother, wife Joann T. Merriman (Dileo), sisters
Sharon L. Wamser and Joli A. Baker, sons Michael A. Merriman (wife
Bonnie) and Scott C. Merriman (wife Holly), and granddaughters Hailee
and Brie Merriman. An adventurous spirit, Michael moved to California in
1964 at age 21. While working in sales at the Oakland Tribune
he met wife JoAnn, they wed on December 29, 1971 at St. Isadores
Catholic Church in Danville, CA. He earned a BA in Marketing at St.
Marys College in Moraga, CA. Michael was a proud and enthusiastic
father. The family lived first in San Ramon and moved to Danville in
1985 after building their home with views of Mt. Diablo. Michael was an
avid outdoorsman and instilled in his sons a respect and appreciation
for nature. He took the family to Blue Lake Springs in Arnold, CA for
over thirty years. He enjoyed camping, backpacking, and soccer; and in
later years he developed a passion for cycling.Michael had a radiant
smile and natural charisma. An employee for nearly eight years at the
retirement community Stoneridge Creek in Pleasanton, CA, he established
meaningful friendships with coworkers and residents alike. He lived each
day of his life with passion until the very end. Just one week before
passing he made his final ascent up Mt. Diablo with his eldest son at
his side. A mass will be held in his honor at 1:00 pm on June 13, 2015
at Saint Isidores in Danville, CA. A reception for family and friends is
