Paul
McCarthy at age 73, passed away December 24, 1997 in San Diego. He was a
long time newspaper writer in editorial sports, boxing when at the Oakland Tribune.
He is survived by his wife Nancy; daughter Paula Salmi; sons Kevin and
Gregory; four grandchildren; sisters Margaret Rau, and Ginny NiCarthy;
several nieces and nephews. Memorial Services are pending in January
1998. Memorial donations may be made to the San Diego Hospice in his
