Warren
J. Barry, Brigadier General, Civil Air Patrol Resident of Antioch
passed away unexpectedly on March 11, 2015 in Antioch CA he was 93.
Warren was born on March 4, 1922 in San Francisco, Ca, later moving to
Richmond with his family. At age 20, Warren met Carol Beecher, the love
of his life and they were married on Sept. 5, 1943. Carol and Warren
were married for 72 years; Warren passed away exactly one month after
his wife. They are survived by their six children; Patricia, Robert,
Margaret,Stephen, Nancy and Susan; nine grandchildren and four great
grandchildren.
From
1943 to 1946, Warren served in the Army Air Corps as an instrument
flight instructor. He was a member of the Delta Flying Club in Antioch
for many years. He joined the the Civil Air Patrol in 1952 and served as
leader at every command level of the California wing. Warren became
Brigadier General and served as National Commander from 1990 to 1993.
Warren
worked at the Oakland Tribune first starting out as a newspaper carrier
as a teenager. He would rise to Home Delivery Manager serving in the
Walnut Creek office. Warren moved on to Contra Costa and East Valley
Times, he retires as Facilities Manager at the Contra Costa Times at age
70. Interment took place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
